Erik ten Hag’s rejuvenated Red Devils are back in action on Saturday in the early kick-off as they take on Southampton hoping to prove their 2-1 win over their fiercest rivals was not a straw fire.
Elsewhere, Arsenal will be looking to continue their 100 per cent start to the new campaign at home to Fulham, while Jurgen Klopp’s struggling Reds will surely get their first three points of the season at home to Bournemouth.
Betfair Ambassador Patrice Evra previews the action from the weekend…
Southampton v Manchester United
It’s a crucial game. United want to go on, but if they draw or lose, people will say the win over Liverpool was an accident. It’s all about continuity. We can score goals and if we keep a clean sheet we will win the game. It’s that simple. . Prediction: 0-2.
Chelsea v Leicester
Chelsea’s last game was a shock. I said recently that Mendy is the best goalkeeper in the world but these mistakes cost you dearly, he knows it, he is a world class player. Leicester are struggling, I don’t know what’s going on. I see Chelsea winning because they will want to fix this humiliation. . Prediction: 2-0.
Brighton v Leeds
Brighton is on fire and I have to congratulate them and Danny Welbeck for the job they are doing. Leeds will be flying high, but they could still celebrate their result against Chelsea and Brighton will be aiming for victory. . Prediction: 2-1.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Brighton 20/23, Draw 14/5, Leeds 31/10
Man City v Crystal Palace
It’s going to be a great game. I’m excited for this one, normally we would just say City are going to win but it’s the kind of game where anything can happen. Patrick Vieira is doing an amazing job, and he’s got really talented players everywhere, they’re not afraid. I can see a lot of goals. I have to support City because the way they came back and the spirit they showed against Newcastle, they showed character instead of just tactics, they showed personality. It will be an explosive game. . Prediction: 3-2.
Betfair swap odds: Man City 2/11, Draw 13/2, Crystal Palace 15/1
Liverpool v Bournemouth
Liverpool are now in survival mode and cannot lose to Bournemouth. They didn’t start well and this is the one they have to win. . Prediction: 3-0.
Brentford v Everton
Brentford will be disappointed to lose at the last minute to Fulham. It’s getting harder and harder for Everton, I feel like every team they play is a completely different challenge for them. I don’t see Everton winning. Prediction: 1-1.
Betfair swap odds: Brentford Evens, Draw 5/2, Everton 11/4
Arsenal v Fulham
It’s going to be an explosive game. Both teams love to play football. Mitrovic can upset Arsenal. Saliba is doing an amazing job, their defense is improving but Mitrovic is dangerous. Arsenal are going there in great form, but I don’t think it will be an easy game. Fulham can upset Arsenal, but I think at home they will have just enough. Prediction: 2-1.
Wolves v Newcastle
Allan Saint-Maximin is on fire. They were impressive against City, but that’s what they mean. They are a team that love to play, they have the fans behind them and staying strong last season was a huge achievement, they don’t want to make the same mistakes again. They have a plan and the manager has confidence. I don’t see why they can’t win against Wolves. Prediction: 0-1.
Betfair Exchange Odds: Wolves 17/10, Draw 9/4, Newcastle 17/10
Aston Villa v West Ham
I’m sad for West Ham, I’m sure it’s not what David Moyes was hoping for at the start of the season. They had some weird and tough games, starting with City, it wasn’t easy. If they lose that, they’ll be in some kind of crisis. Aston Villa have had their ups and downs, and they need the win too. Prediction: 2-1.
Nottingham Forest v Spurs
It will be a tough match, going to Forest will not be easy, their fans will be right behind them. I can see Spurs winning and it’s a lousy game. Conte made them win when they didn’t play well, and I can see the same in this one. Prediction: 1-2.
Betfair swap odds: Nottm Forest 6/1, Draw 18/5, Spurs 40/85
