Highlights of Manchester United 2-2 Fulham U21

Manchester United U21s will seek their first win of the new Premier League Season 2 when they host Fulham at Leigh Sports Village on Friday night.

Mark Dempsey’s side were beaten 3-1 by Arsenal in the opener of the campaign before being beaten 5-1 by Crystal Palace in their home opener. There was some improvement in their last game as they drew 2-2 at Everton, although they blew a two-goal lead.

Fulham head to the game unbeaten in their opening three games with two wins and one draw. They could reach the top of the standings if they win tonight.

Isak Hansen-Aarøen scored in the draw with Everton and he once again leads the line for United as manager Tom Huddlestone starts on the bench.

Full time

It ends in a draw thanks to two amazing goals from Omari Forson.

OBJECTIVE! 2-2 United

What purpose.

Omari Forson drills the ball into the top corner from outside the box to surely save a point.

Extra time

We are in six minutes of additional time.

Hurry up

Fulham have regained control now.

United don’t have long to equalise.

There is a long stoppage of play as the United Wellens right-back receives treatment following a mid-air collision.

The pressure is rising

United are certainly improving in the final moments.

The cries of ‘shoot!’ every time Huddlestone takes the ball. He also has just… above the bar.

ON: Huddlestone

OFF: Wild

Another big chance for United.

Bray is played on goal but is deprived of the head-to-head by a nice save.

A. To. Score.

It’s Gore again.

He is played on goal and only has the keeper to beat but takes his shot just wide of the post. A wasted golden opportunity.

Forson was brilliant all night and is once again gaining a lot of ground on the right wing.

He brings the ball back to Gore who shoots well over the bar from outside the box.

Fulham at the top

This goal gave even more confidence to the visitors. They stay on top here and almost get another one but are denied by Vitek’s low stop.

OBJECTIVE! 2-1 Fulham

It didn’t last long.

United are furious with the linesman but they can only blame themselves.

The Fulham winger gets a cross into the box and Ablade drives in at the back post, it was certainly close.

half time

We are tied at the break.

Extra time

A minimum of one additional minute to play.

Bray did well to earn a corner and United came close to scoring one.

A ball is drilled deep and Mainoo heads wide.

Much better

United were much better in the last ten minutes and earned their goal.

It’s crucial they keep the pressure on now before half-time as Fulham start to dictate possession again.

OBJECTIVE! 1-1 United

A brilliant goal from Forson.

The ball was won high up the pitch by Bray and crossed the box, where the United winger fired fiercely into the top corner.

bright spark

A fine moment from United in attack as Hansen cuts inside but sees his effort deflect gently into the arms of the keeper.

Just at the right time.

Wellens tears through the Fulham defense with an exceptional pass from right-back. He finds Gore, who takes a touch but drags an effort just wide of the net.

Not much to cheer about

United’s inexperience is showing here at the moment.

Fulham are in the ascendancy and look much more likely to get the next goal.

In search of an answer

This goal propelled United into life.

They attack immediately and have their best chance of the game as Gore, Savage and Mainoo all shoot on goal in quick succession.

OBJECTIVE! 1-0 Fulham

They deserve it.

United fail to clear their lines and the ball falls on Pajatizi at the edge of the box. He takes a touch and fires one into the top corner.

first chance

Fulham remain the better team, but we have just seen our first glimpse of the quality of a United player.

A decent counterattack moves in when Hansen finds Forson, who backs up to his left and fires an effort over the bar.

Fulham at the top

It was all Fulham in the first five minutes and they should be up front.

Vitek had a great game in the United goal, making a save from a weak effort and then tipping a corner over the bar a few minutes later.
