Onel Hernandez’s late winner earned Norwich City a 2-1 win over Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s, extending their Championship winning streak to four games.

In a first half that was sorely lacking in quality, it was the Canaries who had the first real chance. Max Aarons burst into the box and found Kieran Dowell but the midfielder connected poorly and rolled 15 yards out.

After a boring end to the opening period, the second half came alive with Hogan’s opener, the striker calmly heading home after Leandro Bacuna’s cross was deflected into his path.

However, it didn’t take long for Norwich to fight back. Marcelino Nunez’s free-kick was saved well by ex-Canary John Ruddy, but the ball fell over Josh Sargent and Omobamidele forced an equalizer from the resulting rush.

With the match seemingly exhausted to a draw, Hernandez had other ideas. Pukki held the ball before slipping the Cuban, and he was the calmest man in Birmingham to score the winner.

6 – Byram passes Bacuna and enters the box, but his low cross is turned for a corner.

seven – Bacuna flies forward on the counter and flashes through the city area, but Nunez comes back way back to clear.

12 – Aarons’ low cross finds Dowell from 15 yards out, but he connects poorly with his finish and he rolls comfortably wide.

32 – Sinani’s through ball finds Byram in goal, but Sanderson makes an excellent last-minute tackle to deny the full-back.

33 – Sargent runs through the Birmingham defense and takes the ball around Ruddy, but can’t force it from a tight angle.

39 – Sinani tries a long shot and hits it well, but it’s straight at Ruddy in the Birmingham goal.

45+2 – Nunez is fouled at the edge of the box in a dangerous position, but Sinani’s free-kick is sent harmlessly into the wall.

50 – BIRMINGHAM GOAL (Hogan): Graham delicately cuts the ball down the line to Bacuna. His cross is deflected by Omobamidele in the direction of Hogan, who cannot miss the 1-0.

63 – GOAL NORWICH (Omobamidele): Nunez’s free-kick is superbly saved by Ruddy but bounces back into a rush on goal, where Omobamidele forces the ball in.

68 – Hernandez beats his man and reduces Pukki to 10 yards, but the Finn is put off by a touch from Roberts and plants his effort well clear of the post.

71 – A scrum inside the Norwich penalty area results in yellow cards for Deeney, Trusty and Omobamidele.

81 – Roberts meets a corner firmly and he heads for goal, but Pukki makes one final intervention to keep the scores level.

85 – Pukki controls well and charges into the hosts box, but can’t find Cantwell with his low cross.

90+3 – GOAL NORWICH (Hernandez): Pukki holds the ball on the edge of the Blues box and passes it to Hernandez, who finishes coldly under Ruddy.
