A nurse accuses the Gatwick parking company of taking her BMW on a 600-mile trip while she was on vacation

A mother has accused a Gatwick parking company of taking her BMW on a huge road trip after she returned from vacation to find her car had an extra 600 miles on the odometer.

Kajal Bhagwandas, 30, returned from a week-long family vacation in Mexico to find her car was out of engine oil, the brakes were worn and there was gum stuck to the ceiling.

The pediatric nurse believes the BMW M3 Sport was driven by someone else after finding a map of Bristol in the boot, despite never having visited the city herself.

Kajal also said the car was dirty, with mud splattered on the outside of the blue vehicle.

She said: “They didn’t even try to get rid of the evidence, they didn’t clean the car.”

“It has obviously been used, but there is no cover at all. They didn’t care.

The car shows the mileage to be over 134,000, but an MOT a month earlier showed it was only 133,286. Kajal and Praven claim it was only 133,400 when they dropped him off

“The first thing we noticed was mud that had been sprayed to one side, and we thought it must have been parked in a muddy field.

“We got in the car and on the screen inside a message appeared saying the brake pads were worn out and that was a bit strange.

“Then when we started the car we looked to see that there were 600 miles that had been added to our mileage. We couldn’t believe it.

Kajal and her husband Praven drove the car back to Kingston-upon-Thames, only to find even more indications that the car had been used while they were away.

The mother-of-one said: ‘As we were getting the suitcases out of the car, I noticed there was a Bristol city map hidden in the boot.

“Then I discovered there was chewing gum stuck to the ceiling in the back of the car, so we knew the car had been used for some sort of road trip.

“I was really frustrated and just in shock.”

Kajal said she was

Kajal said she was “frustrated and shocked” by the condition of her car when it was returned to her at the end of the holiday.

Kajal and her husband Praven said there was dirt inside and outside their BMW M3 Sport after it had been at the parking company for eight days.

The couple found the company online when researching parking options near Gatwick Airport and paid over £115 for eight days.

The parking company advises customers to check their vehicle carefully when picking up and report any discrepancies or concerns immediately. The company adds that complaints will not be considered once the vehicle is returned.

Kajal said he met a worker before handing over the keys on August 20.

They then returned to the car park after landing in the UK on August 28, where they had to wait over an hour for the vehicle to be returned to them.

Kajal said: “When we came back the guy gave us the keys and ran away.

‘He was like ‘let’s go’ and he left. He didn’t give us a chance to check the car or anything.

“In the terms and conditions it says that if you don’t mention any concerns you have to the person handing over the keys, complaints are void.

“We knew they might need to drive it to move it, but not 600 miles!”

An MOT a month before the holiday showed the mileage to be 133,286, but Kajal and Praven said it was 134,000 when they picked up the car. The couple claimed the mileage was 133,400 when they filed it.

Kajal said she does not use the car to get to work and her husband works from home, meaning they only use it for short local trips.

She has tried to contact the company, demanding an explanation, but has so far received no response.

Kajal said: “I was even more shocked when I went on Trustpilot and saw that there was [hundreds of] people who say similar things.

“I was really frustrated so put it on my social media and people relate to it because it’s happened to so many others.

“It was the first time we had used this type of service, but it is shocking that they are still working and people are still booking with them. Because they are based at the airport, we assumed they would be legit.

“We reported it to the police because hopefully our license plate will be reported somewhere and help catch them in the act.”

A Gatwick Airport spokesperson said: ‘We are sorry to hear of instances where people have been abused by rogue parking companies such as this.

“The airport has no relationship with these companies and, like other airports, Gatwick cannot prevent competing parking companies from operating on site, provided they comply with the regulations and conditions of use of the airports. concerned facilities.

“Any passengers affected by the actions of rogue parking companies such as this should contact Trading Standards, who should be able to investigate the matter.

“Gatwick Airport strongly recommends that passengers use the official airport car park.”

Dozens of accounts posted on the company’s Trustpilot review website recount similar experiences, with customers describing extra mileage on their cars, dirty vehicles and even McDonalds bags and crusty packets left inside .

The parking company denied knowledge of the incident and said its staff were not authorized to remove cars from the company.

West Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
