Family members of a 34-year-old woman who disappeared while jogging early in the morning are offering members of the public who can assist in the arrest $50,000.

Around 4:30 a.m. Friday, authorities said Eliza Fletcher went running in her neighborhood near the University of Memphis campus when she was allegedly forced into an SUV and kidnapped by an unidentified man. identified.

At around 7 a.m., University of Memphis Police called Memphis Police to assist with a missing person report after learning that Ms Fletcher had been kidnapped after encountering a brief struggle with the man. Ms. Fletcher is also called Liza.

Later on Friday, officers released blurry photos of the car they suspected was used to abduct Ms Fletcher and described the suspect as driving a dark-colored GMC Terrain, WREG reported. They believe the car was heading west on Central Ave into the city.

A city watch alert was deployed shortly after his disappearance. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations posted a statewide missing person alert on its social media pages and is believed to have been involved in the investigation, WREG reported.

Officers investigating the scene where Ms Fletcher was abducted said they later recovered her personal items, including a water bottle and a cellphone, outside a house belonging to the university, WBIR reported.

Friends of the missing woman have implored the public to help with the investigation and the return of the mother of two young boys in any way possible, telling local media that the family just wanted to “find her”.

“You don’t want to hear what’s going on. We want to find her,” said Hart Robinson, a friend of Ms Fletcher, in a telephone interview with WREG. “We don’t know what’s going on, but everyone is desperately looking for her and the police are on it. The Hutchison School, where Ms Fletcher graduated in 2006, issued an appeal on its Facebook page for the community to pray for her safe return.

“She was abducted this morning near the University of Memphis while running. She is a beloved alumnus, and we pray for her safety and for her family,” reads the Facebook page of the high school.

A church in the area where Ms Fletcher is believed to be a devotee issued an “urgent call to prayer” after learning of the 34-year-old’s early morning disappearance.

“Please join us in praying for Liza’s safety and that she will be found soon. Please also pray for her family,” the Second Presbyterian Church wrote in a Facebook post on Friday.

Later on Friday, the missing mother’s family issued a separate plea while stressing that anyone with information that could help Ms Fletcher’s arrest or return would receive the $50,000.

“We look forward to Eliza’s safe return and hope this award will help police capture those who committed this crime,” the family said in a statement Friday.
