Google Responds If Adding Daily Content Increases Rankings

Google held an SEO hangout during office hours in which someone asked if regularly adding content was helpful for rankings.

This is a good question because it is commonly believed that posting content regularly is a good idea as it keeps readers coming back for more.

Posting daily good for rankings?

This is the question that was asked:

“Does posting one piece of content a day increase rankings?”

It’s unclear who at Google answered the question.

Here is the answer given by Google:


Posting daily or at a specific frequency for that matter does not help rank better in Google search results.

However, the more pages you have in the Google index, the higher your content can appear in search results.

It has been noted over the past few years that Google does not crawl all content.

And if content isn’t crawled, it won’t be indexed, which is important for rankings.

Part of the reason Google might not crawl this content is the overall quality of a website.

Google’s John Mueller said:

“The other big reason we don’t crawl many websites is that we’re not convinced of the overall quality.

So that’s something where, especially with new sites, I see us sometimes struggling with that.

And I also sometimes see people saying to themselves, well, it’s technically possible to create a site with a million pages because we have a database and we’ve just put it online.

And just by doing that, basically overnight, we’ll find a lot of these pages but we’ll be like, we’re not sure how good these pages are yet.

And we’ll be a bit more careful about crawling and indexing them until we’re sure the quality is actually good.

Google encourages awesomeness

Googlers have stopped recommending publishers focus on producing “great” content.

But it’s still a useful (if vague) recommendation.

What is awesomeness?

One of the hallmarks of awesomeness is the enthusiasm with which readers interact with the content.

And what drives them to do that is more than just being awesome, it’s more about being there for the reader by understanding what they really want.

In terms of increasing a site’s readership, it certainly helps to add content on topics that readers care about.

I’ve noticed that readers can become obsessed with discovering new content when they’re very engaged with a topic.

For the sites I publish, I’ve had enthusiastic readers as far away as the Middle East and Asia who write to me about my content and even share photos of their successes.

In my opinion, content can be like eating popcorn when the reader is heavily engaged with the topic – they can’t stop reading it and come back for more.

There’s a reason there’s so much content written about Star Wars media and Marvel movies.

People engaged with a topic will tend to click when they see an article about that topic in search results, Google News, or Google Discover.

After I started writing for Search Engine Journal, I gained a better understanding of the importance of identifying the types of content that are important to readers (as indicated by the number of readers who viewed articles and liked them). recommended).

So it’s not always about constantly posting content but rather, in my experience, about identifying what matters to readers.

This means branching out from time to time to see if readers are interested in new topics by testing out new topics.

Sometimes readers don’t engage with new topics.

But every now and then a new topic becomes a hit and that’s when you add that topic to your list of types of articles to write.

Who would have known that a significant number of New York Times readers would be more interested in the recipe content than the main news content?

Ranking in Google or simply building a readership is not just about writing keyword optimized content.

It is essential to identify topics that are important to readers.
